Macusine B is an alkaloid from the bisbenzylisoquinoline group of indole alkaloids. It has potent inhibitory activity against nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at low doses and does not cause any acute toxicity in animal studies. Macusine B also inhibits the binding of fluorocurine to a subset of adrenergic receptors, which may provide a new mechanism for its anticancer activity. Macusine B has been shown to be safe when administered to humans and has anticancer properties, especially against certain types of cancer cells that are resistant to conventional treatments.
