Palmitanilide is a fatty acid amide with a hydroxyl group. It is synthesized from palmitic acid and an amine. Palmitanilide has been shown to be chemically stable, non-volatile, and easily soluble in water. The molecule can be analyzed using gas chromatography (GC) or liquid chromatography (LC). Palmitanilide has been used as radiation shielding material, due to its high chemical stability. It can also be used as a polymer precursor for microcapsules, which are tiny capsules that contain drugs or other substances to deliver them in the gastrointestinal tract.
