N-Tosylbenzamide is a palladacycle that reacts with hydrogen bonds to form a solvate. This compound has been shown to react with nucleophiles, such as chlorine and bromine, in the presence of palladium metal. The reaction proceeds by stoichiometric displacement of the halogen atom from the benzene ring and results in electron density on the metal center. N-Tosylbenzamide undergoes cyclopalladation when reacted with dihaloarenes, leading to an electron-deficient species that is able to undergo transformation reactions.
