Descripción:2-Ethynyl-3-methoxypyridine is a chiral, alkynyl compound that can be synthesized from the reaction of acetone and ethyne. This compound is axially chiral and has two rotational isomers, which are optically active. The synthesis of this compound was first reported in 1952 by cyclizing 2-ethynylpyridine with methoxyacetophenone in the presence of acetic acid. The photochemical reactions of this compound have been studied extensively and it has shown to be a useful substrate for pyridines.
