It has been shown to be effective in monitoring the activity of caspase 3 in cells and tissues. This probe is used for the treatment of cancer by apoptosis induction and DNA fragmentation. It acts as an anti-cancer agent by binding to the protein transfer which inhibits the proteasome from degrading proteins that are involved in cell proliferation. This leads to accumulation of these proteins, which cause cells to die through apoptosis.
