1,3,8-Triazaspiro[4.5]decan-4-one (TAO) is an inhibitor of the bradykinin B2 receptor. It has been shown to have antinociceptive properties in animals and is a potential treatment for pain. TAO also has the ability to bind to the bradykinin B2 receptor with high affinity. The bound form of TAO stabilizes this receptor, preventing it from being degraded by proteases, which may cause depression and cardiac arrhythmia. This drug is currently undergoing clinical trials for use as an antidepressant and antihypertensive agent.
