4-Nitro-5-phenyl-2H-[1,2,3]triazole is a dialkylamino compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of pests. It has been studied as a control agent for cockroaches and other pest control problems. 4-Nitro-5-phenyl-2H-[1,2,3]triazole has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme phosphodiesterase (PDE) in vitro. In addition, it has been found to be a potentiodynamic polarization inhibitor with good selectivity for PDEs. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm and electrochemical studies have shown that this compound binds reversibly to the surface of Langmuir monolayers and electrodes. This binding may be due to hydrogen bonding or electrostatic interactions between the nitro group and the c1-8 alkyl chains on the surface of the adsorbent or electrode.
