The mechanism of action of NSC348884 may be mediated through the induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), activation of caspases, and modulation of signal transduction pathways. NSC348884 has also been shown to induce a variety of transcriptional effects on tumor cells, including upregulation or downregulation of genes involved in cell cycle regulation and apoptosis. This drug is also efficacious against brain tumors with malignant characteristics and breast cancer cells that are resistant to monoclonal antibody therapy.
