2-(Thiophen-2-yl)phenol is an organic compound that has been synthesized in the laboratory. It is a member of the class of compounds called isocyanides, which are compounds that contain two or more cyanide groups. 2-(Thiophen-2-yl)phenol can be obtained via a palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction between thiophene and an isocyanide. The yield for this synthesis is 72%. This compound has shown to be useful for the introduction of functional groups into biomolecules with high yields, as well as being innovative in its use of synthetic methods.
