Vina-ginsenoside R3 is a saponin that belongs to the group of chemical transformation products. It has been shown to have anti-diabetic properties in experimental models, as it can stimulate glycogen synthesis and inhibit cholesterol synthesis. Vina-ginsenoside R3 also has anti-inflammatory effects and can be used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type II, hyperglycemia, and atherosclerosis. The vina-ginsenosides are found in the quinquefolium plant leaves and they have been shown to possess physicochemical properties that are similar to those of glycogen.
