3-(2-Amino-2-oxoethyl)-5-methylhexanoic Acid is a solvent with a variety of industrial applications. It is mainly used as an organic solvent in the manufacture of optical fibers, paints, and other products. 3-(2-Amino-2-oxoethyl)-5-methylhexanoic Acid has been shown to be stereoselective in the reaction solution and can be recycled. The crystal x-ray diffraction pattern of 3-(2-Amino-2-oxoethyl)-5-methylhexanoic Acid shows that it has a molecular weight of 179.3 g/mol and a melting point of 114°C. 3-(2-Amino-2-oxoethyl)-5-methylhexanoic Acid is also used as a pharmaceutical preparation for the treatment of acid reflux disease.
