Descripción:Bay 41-8543 is a potent and selective inhibitor of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). It inhibits the degradation of cGMP, which leads to an increase in intracellular levels. This results in relaxation of smooth muscle cells in the corpus cavernosum, leading to increased blood flow and penile erection. Bay 41-8543 also has been shown to inhibit collagen production by suppressing growth factor-β1 (GF-β1) expression and reducing renal fibrosis. It has shown promising effects on cardiac function, with a reduction in systolic pressure and congestive heart failure. Bay 41-8543 belongs to the group of pharmacological agents that are used for treatment of cardiac disease.
