Glutathione Disulfide (GSSG) Methyl Ester is a reactive molecule that is formed by the oxidation of glutathione. It is used in studies on oxidative stress and its role in tumorigenesis. GSSG Methyl Ester has been shown to bind to DNA and inhibit transcription. GSSG Methyl Ester is also used as a fluorescent probe for measuring intracellular glutathione levels. This compound has also been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species and reduce cellular damage.
