Urolithin M7 is a natural compound found in the genus Ellagitannus. It is synthesized by human gut microbiota from dietary ellagic acid and gallic acid, which are found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and berries. Urolithin M7 has been shown to have anti-cancer effects on colon cancer cells. It also inhibits the growth of certain types of cancer cells that are resistant to chemotherapy. This compound may be used as a chemopreventive agent for colon cancer due to its inhibitory effect on cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis.
