Descripción:(-)-Isopinocampheol is a natural product with the molecular formula C(14)H(28)O. It is extracted from various plants, such as "Erythroxylum coca" and "Psychotria viridis". (-)-Isopinocampheol is a chiral molecule that has been shown to have reactivity in the synthesis of other natural products. (-)-Isopinocampheol can be alkylated at the 2-position with chloromethyl methyl ether. This reaction yields an intermediate that undergoes β-elimination, forming a piperidine skeleton. (-)-Isopinocampheol has been evaluated as a potential anti-cancer drug candidate due to its ability to inhibit proliferation of tumor cells in culture. The mechanism of action is not yet clear, but may involve inhibition of protein synthesis or induction of apoptosis.
