• Descripción: 5-Dodecene is a terpene with the molecular formula CHO. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature, but it can be converted to a solid by compression. This compound has been used in the treatment of cancer and as an antibacterial agent. 5-Dodecene has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against many bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterobacter cloacae. It also exhibits activity against fungi such as Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. 5-Dodecene has been shown to inhibit bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis through inhibition of the ribosome's 50S subunit and binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
