4-N,N-Dimethylanilinemagnesium bromide is a tertiary organometallic compound that has been used in synthetic chemistry as a Grignard reagent. It is prepared by treating methylmagnesium chloride with anhydrous magnesium metal. 4-N,N-Dimethylanilinemagnesium bromide can be reacted with the corresponding halides to produce tertiary alcohols or ethers. These reactions are typically carried out at low temperatures and with an excess of the reagents. 4-N,N-Dimethylanilinemagnesium bromide has also been used to prepare symmetric fluoroborate frameworks, which have potential applications in organic electronics and catalysis.
