Descripción

1-(4-Carboxyphenyl)-2-thiourea is a ligand that can be used as a basis for the design of new drugs. It has shown tuberculostatic activity against P. aeruginosa and S. aureus, with IC50 values in the low micromolar range. 1-(4-Carboxyphenyl)-2-thiourea is also able to inhibit the growth of mesoporous silica particles and form supramolecular complexes, which may have therapeutic applications in cancer treatment. The nitrogen atoms in this ligand are capable of hydrogen bonding with anilines, which can lead to pyrimidine derivatives that are active against tuberculosis and other bacterial diseases.
