N-Benzylpyrazin-2-amine is a biochemical that has been studied in a number of modelling and x-ray crystallographic studies. It has been found to be a potent inhibitor of the protein synthetase, which plays an important role in the production of proteins. N-Benzylpyrazin-2-amine is also an antimycobacterial agent with excellent activity against tuberculosis and other mycobacteria. It inhibits synthesis by binding to the enzyme hepg2, which catalyzes the conversion of hydroxymethylbilane into heptamethine monophosphate, an essential intermediate for dna synthesis.
