N-Benzyl-4-chlorobenzamide is a coupling agent that is used in the synthesis of amides. It has been found to be an effective catalyst for the coupling of carboxylic acids with amines and activated esters, as well as the synthesis of amides from carboxylic acids. N-Benzyl-4-chlorobenzamide is insoluble in water and organic solvents and cannot be used as a catalyst for reactions involving hydrolysis or oxidation.
