Allyl phenoxyacetate is a reactive molecule that can be used as a control agent for water vapor. This compound is synthesized by the reaction of diphenyl ether and allyl alcohol. Allyl phenoxyacetate has been shown to react with fatty acids in human serum, which are important components of the cell membrane. These reactions produce products that have fatty acid properties, including the ability to activate phosphotungstic acid and fatty acid binding proteins. Allyl phenoxyacetate also has been shown to bind to fatty acids in vitro, suggesting it may be an effective lipid-binding agent.
