Descripción:2-(3-Methylbutoxy)ethan-1-ol is an organic solvent that is used as a raw material in the production of activated carbon. It is also used as a base for the neutralization of acids, and can be converted to other compounds such as ethylene glycol. 2-(3-Methylbutoxy)ethan-1-ol has a viscosity of 1.5 cP at 20 °C and a density of 0.898 g/cm³, and can be used in the production of solar cells. This chemical can be synthesized from ethanol by catalytic hydrogenation or hydroformylation using molybdenum oxide or rhodium oxide on phosphoric acid.
