Zinc phosphate tetrahydrate is a white powder that is insoluble in water and exhibits high resistance to corrosion. It has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi. Zinc phosphate tetrahydrate has been found to be a significant inhibitor of the growth of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterobacter aerogenes. The mechanism of action of zinc phosphate tetrahydrate is not fully understood, but it may be due to its interaction with the microbial cell membrane or interference with cell wall synthesis. This compound also inhibits bacterial adhesion to surfaces by preventing the attachment of cells to the surface by binding with negatively charged groups on the surface.
