NACME has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The mechanism by which NACME inhibits bacterial growth is not yet known, but it may involve oxidative reactions or irreversible inhibition of enzymes.
