INT Formazan is a redox indicator that changes colour from purple to yellow in the presence of peroxide. INT Formazan has been used as an antimicrobial agent in plant cell cultures and in the detection of enzyme activities. It also has applications as a reagent for the determination of phosphate, fatty acids, and chloride concentrations. INT Formazan is usually used to measure oxidative reactions by incubating it with an oxidant such as hydrochloric acid or hydrogen peroxide. This will cause INT Formazan to change colour from purple to yellow.
