Geranyl Tiglate is a fatty acid that is found in the form of its ester, geranyl tiglate. It has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth and induce apoptosis. Geranyl Tiglate has also been shown to be effective in treating diabetic patients with isovaleric acidemia by reducing levels of this acid in the blood. The chemical structures of geranyl tiglate and other related molecules have been analyzed using NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. This analysis revealed that they are heterocyclic compounds containing two rings that are linked together by a single bond, which is known as a disulfide bridge. Geranyl tiglate is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting the synthesis of enzymes that are required for cell wall biosynthesis, such as anthranilate synthase or methylaminopropionate reductase.
