Propane, 1,1,3-triethoxy-, also known as ethyl ester of retinoic acid, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CHO. It is an ester of retinoic acid and it is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. The molecule consists of an ethyl group attached to a triethoxy group containing three carbon atoms. This molecule has been shown to be useful in analytical methods such as gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Propane, 1,1,3-triethoxy-, also has the ability to hydrogenate fatty acids and fatty alcohols. In addition to these properties, propane, 1,1,3-triethoxy-, can be used as a starting material for the production of ethyl linoleate and diethyl succinate.
