Angeflorin is a natural product that has been isolated from the flowers of the plant, Muscari armeniacum and is an enantioselective inhibitor of hep3b. Angeflorin inhibits the growth of tumor cells in culture and in animals by inhibiting protein synthesis. It also induces apoptosis and may have anti-inflammatory effects due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Angeflorin has been shown to inhibit curlignan synthase, which is responsible for the formation of this molecule, as well as phenylpropanoids that are involved in staining reactions. Angeflorin can be found in acidic environments such as wine or apple juice.
