Daurichromenic acid is a natural product that belongs to the class of dauric acids. It is an inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B), which is an enzyme involved in the regulation of the insulin signaling pathway. Daurichromenic acid has been shown to inhibit PTP1B by binding to the hydroxyl group at position C-4 and hydrogen bonding intramolecularly with oxygen in the hydroxyl group at position C-2. The mechanism of inhibition appears to be competitive with respect to ATP, which is a substrate for PTP1B. This compound also inhibits farnesyl diphosphate synthesis, producing a reaction mechanism that leads to acetate extract from plant physiology and molecular modeling.
