Descripción:5-Iodoindane is a synthetic analogue of capsaicin, a well-known analgesic and irritant. 5-Iodoindane has been shown to be an effective analgesic in vivo with no apparent toxicity. 5-Iodoindane also blocks the activity of TRPV1 receptors, which are involved in the transmission of pain signals. The discovery that 5-iodoindane inhibits capsaicin induced pain pathways has led to the development of this drug as a novel class of TRPV1 antagonists. This compound is currently being developed as a potential treatment for chronic pain.
