Omega-3 arachidonic acid methyl ester (OM-3) is a natural compound found in leaves that has been shown to have antioxidant properties. OM-3 may inhibit the growth of cervical cancer cells by inducing apoptosis, mediated by reactive oxygen species. OM-3 also has anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce the inflammatory response in esophageal cancer. OM-3 also has anticancer activity against murine melanoma and b16 cells. The bioactivities of OM-3 are mediated by myristicin and β-caryophyllene.
