TETRATHIAFULVALENE (TTF) is a molecule that has the shape of a tetrahedron. Tetrathiafulvalene is an electron-deficient molecule and can be used as an anion. The anion is formed by the coordination of two cyanoethylenes to form a tetrathiolate. Tetrathiafulvalene molecules have been shown to be magnetic, with magnetic properties that depend on their dimension and the presence of other atoms or molecules in close proximity. Tetrathiafulvalene has also been shown to interact with other molecules, such as centrosymmetric and interplanar molecules, which may lead to nanowire formation.
