Epimetendiol is a chemical agent that belongs to the group of anabolic agents. It is usually administered orally and is metabolized in the body to produce testosterone and dihydrotestosterone. Epimetendiol can be detected in urine samples by mass spectrometry, but it requires control analysis for quantification. The detection sensitivity of this substance can be improved by using triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry as well as deconvolution and chemical ionization. Epimetendiol has been used in pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment of anemia, hypogonadism, and osteoporosis.
