5-Bromo-3,4-dihydro-1H-2-benzopyran is an organic solvent that is used to introduce bromine into organic compounds. It can be synthesized by reacting benzene with n-hexane in the presence of a catalyst, such as palladium on carbon. This reaction results in the formation of 5-bromo-3,4-dihydrobenzoquinone through an aerobic oxidation reaction. The yield from this reaction can be increased by using aerobic conditions. The mechanism for this reaction is similar to that of other organic reactions involving benzene and hexane.
