Descripción:BAY 36-7620 is a small molecule inhibitor of glial glutamate receptor type 1 (GluR1). It has been shown to reduce the viability of cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner. BAY 36-7620 has also been found to induce neuroprotection in rodent models of Parkinson's disease by inhibiting the expression and phosphorylation of GluR1 at serine 845. This inhibition prevents the activation of GluR1 receptors, which may lead to cell death. BAY 36-7620 also inhibits the activation of purinergic receptors and decreases aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells, which may lead to tumor shrinkage.
