[1,3]Thiazolo[5,4-b]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid is a halogenated compound that belongs to the class of thiazolopyridines. It has been shown to be a good substrate for radiation-induced polymerization and can be used in the fabrication of polymers with desired properties. The carboxyl group on [1,3]thiazolo[5,4-b]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid can also be used for the synthesis of polymeric matrices for drug delivery. This compound is biodegradable and can be incorporated into polymeric coatings that are used in biomedical applications. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has been shown to absorb UV radiation and emit light at longer wavelengths when it reacts with [1,3]thiazolo[5,4-b]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid. This compound
