Descripción:AI-3 is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that inhibits the growth of human pathogens. It inhibits bacterial cell growth by binding to the sensor and inhibiting the binding of kallikrein to its substrate, an oligosaccharide. This in turn prevents the cleavage of the oligosaccharides into their respective monosaccharides, which would otherwise be used by bacteria as a source of energy. AI-3 has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacterial cells from both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
