Descripción:Glucagon is a peptide hormone that is produced by alpha cells in the pancreas. It has many effects, including increasing blood sugar levels and causing the release of fatty acids from fat cells. Glucagon also stimulates the liver to release glucose into the bloodstream. Glucagon binds to specific receptors on the membrane of cells, which then causes adenylate cyclase activity and increased production of cyclic AMP (cAMP). This hormone is used in cancer treatment because it can stimulate cell growth, inhibit apoptosis, and cause cancerous tumors to shrink.
