4-(Dimethylamino)piperidine-4-carbonitrile is an amine that contains two stereoisomers. The first is the (S) form, which has a methylamine substituent on the nitrogen atom. These forms can be separated by column chromatography and by gas chromatography, with the (S) form being more polar than the (R) form.
