• Descripción: Taurocholic acid (TCA) is a bile acid. It is the conjugate base of cholic acid with taurine, and it has a role in the absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins. Sodium taurocholate is an inhibitor of ion channels that open in response to ligands such as acetylcholine or norepinephrine. It also selectively inhibits ligand-gated ion channels, inhibiting the flow of ions across cell membranes. This inhibition may be due to its ability to bind to the receptor site and prevent agonists from binding.
