3-Bromo-N,N-dimethyl-3-(4-methylbenzoyl)propionamide is a natural metabolite of the drug 3-(2,6-dichlorobenzoyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline. It is an impurity found in the synthesis of 3-(2,6-dichlorobenzoyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline and has been shown to be a metabolite of this compound. 3-Bromo-N,N-dimethyl-3-(4-methylbenzoyl)propionamide is also used as an analytical reference material for HPLC.
