N,N-Dimethylglycine Ethyl Ester is a diagnostic agent that can be used to measure the levels of amines. It is an ethyl ester of N,N-dimethylglycine and is used in chromatographic methods to identify amines. The detection limit for this chemical is 0.2 nmol/L. This compound can also be used to measure fatty acids and amines by determining their concentration through a kinetic assay. It has been shown to have beneficial effects on metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus type I and II when administered intravenously, but has not been shown to have any effect on non-diabetic patients.
