• Descripción: Erythrosin is a red dye that is used in food and pharmaceuticals. It is a synthetic compound with an acidic pH, which has been shown to be soluble in water and organic solvents. Erythrosin can be synthesized by the reaction of hydroxy group of sodium sulfide with the molecule erythrosin yellowish. The resulting product can be purified through liquid chromatography methods. Malic acid, a type of fruit acid that is found in plants, animals, and humans, has been shown to act as a reducing agent to regenerate erythrosin after it has been oxidized during the film-forming process.
