3-Propoxytoluene is a chemical compound that is used for the treatment of kidney fibrosis and lung fibrosis. It has been shown to inhibit collagen production in human lung fibroblasts and tumor cell lines, as well as induce apoptosis in tumor xenografts. 3-Propoxytoluene is also able to crosslink DNA and RNA, which may be due to its ability to bind to the enzyme polymerase chain. This drug has been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on both fetal bovine cells and monoclonal antibodies that are specific for collagen.
