It is a nitrogen-containing heterocycle that can be synthesized by the condensation of aniline with nitroethane and potassium carbonate. 1-(4-Chloro-2-nitrophenyl)piperidine has been shown to reduce the levels of cortisol in rats, which may indicate anti-inflammatory properties. This compound also has been shown to function as a cyclizing agent for the synthesis of azaheterocycles.
