It also displays magnetic resonance properties. The chemical structure of this compound consists of three rings: two benzene rings and one furan ring. 4,6-Dimethoxy-1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-1-one has been found to be an inhibitor of fatty acid synthesis in Escherichia coli cells.
