19:0 LysoPC is a lipid that plays an important role in the diagnosis of liver disease. It has been shown to be elevated in patients with fatty liver disease and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, as well as those with cirrhosis. It is also elevated in patients with biliary obstruction, which can be seen by the increased levels of bile acids and fatty acids. 19:0 LysoPC is found in large quantities in the liver due to its uptake from plasma by hepatic cells. The abundance of this lipid can be used to diagnose diseases such as chronic cholestasis, alcoholic hepatitis, and various forms of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
