Descripción:Famotidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist that inhibits gastric acid secretion. It is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, and other conditions. Famotidine has been shown to be effective against necrotizing ulcers in the duodenum and stomach, as well as mucosal lesions caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It also shows gastroprotective activity in rats with induced gastric ulcers by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2 and leukotriene B4.
