2-(1-Hydroxyethyl)-6-ethylaniline is a synthetic chemical compound that has been shown to be an effective antibiotic, antiviral, and antiparasitic. It has been used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria, virus, and fungi. 2-(1-Hydroxyethyl)-6-ethylaniline is also an antibacterial agent that inhibits cell growth by binding to DNA and preventing RNA synthesis. It binds to ribosomes and prevents protein production. This agent also inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA by binding with DNA gyrase. The drug is not active against acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex.
