It is an amide and enantioselective synthesis that has been shown to be efficient, with a high purity. Pyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylic acid 1-benzyl ester 2-methyl ester is also a potential source for isotopic labeling and discovery. This drug has been tested in clinical trials as an antagonist to ANP receptors, which may lead to inhibition of the binding of ANP with its receptor.
